ANDREWSFIELD ADVANCED PPL COURSE
For those with a licence to learn.
This advanced PPL course is aimed at those pilots who want to:
- Learn some advanced handling techniques.
- Enjoy a new challenge.
- Make more use of their hard earned PPL.
- Improve their confidence
This is a short course of 4 modules, each of aprox 3 hours flying & 3 hours ground tuition. It can be tailored to encourage & enable private pilots to broaden their experience & confidence.

FORMATION FLYING. ever fancied joining the RED ARROWS ... wel you cann't however you can learn how to fly in formation by taking part in our Formation Flying Training Course which will be on offer early 2010.... please let us know if you are interested.

Andrewsfield have a Letter Of Agreement with NATS to allow aircraft without Transponders to fly in the ATZ up to 1500 ft on the QNH and leave this area to the East & South thus avoiding the TMZ to the North and without having to contact Farnbrough or Essex Radar
- Transponder Mandatory Zones
‘Transponder Mandatory Zones’ (TMZ) will be established in the vicinity of London
Stansted Airport with effect from 24 September 2009. TMZs are notifi ed for the purpose of ANO 2005 Article 20(2). A TMZ is defi ned as a volume of airspace where aircraft wishing to enter or fl y within the defi ned area will be required to have and operate secondary surveillance radar equipment. This equipment must include a pressure altitude reporting transponder capable of operating in Mode A and Mode C and with the
capability and functionality prescribed for Mode S Elementary Surveillance, although
there is a general exemption to the Mode S requirement for aircraft equipped with Mode
A and Mode C and fl ying under VFR, until March 2012.
The pilot of an aircraft that wishes to operate in a Stansted TMZ without the
required serviceable transponder equipment may be granted access to the TMZ subject
to specifi c ATC approval from Farnborough Radar on frequency 132.800 during their
hours of operation (0800-2000 Winter (Summer 1hr earlier)) or from Essex Radar
on frequency 120.625 at other times. Carol the youngest female to receive this honour was in the company of other recipients Captain Pym AFC and Wing Commander P.Welply . and Sir Brian Burridge KCB CBE.

- The Quiz night was a great success with 11 teams entering including a team from NorthWeild Congratulations go to John and Jackie Ferguson, David Carr, Nigel Wilson and Debbie Leggett who won the quiz
- Date for the diary: Plans are in progress for an Andrewsfield Summer Hangar dance the date is June 6th - more details to follow
- We are delighted to say that work has started on the new hangar thanks to Clive Harvey

- There are still places available on the Andrewsfield Ski Holiday in Austria 9th March to 16 March - all welcome including non skiers, you need not come for the whole week part week bookings available.
- The Twin Cougar is back from maintenance and ready for Multi Training.
- Andrewsfield is hoping to be able to offer CPL flight training in 2009
- The Cub is away to be recovered we will update when we have a date for its return
- Falcon finds refuge on a fellow flier G-BXSE the sighting was reported to the independent bird register and a local expert came and collected the bird. 3/1/09
